Here's a challenge for you. See this image? Use it as a base to design a snowflake. Use either the blue or the white for your outline and see what you can come up with.
Anne took the challenge and designed a beautiful piece based on this image, but she thinks hers looks more like a flower.
Marty has her interpretation done. Her first attempt had many points of different shapes, then she ran out of thread. After reloading her shuttles shae came up with a successful snowflake.
Very interesting Sharon. I'll have to print this out and work on it!
ReplyDeleteReally interesting! I have several snowflakes images for challenge. This one I'll have to try it too. :-)
ReplyDeleteOk. I don't need another challenge but I cannot resist this. The rings and chains are laid out, now I "just" have to figure out how many stitches to go on the rings and chains. I can hear my dragon hissing, it is still missing its wings, but it'll have to wait some more.
ReplyDeleteSharon - for all your inspiration and all your hard work with this blog & also the 25 motif blog - I nominated YOU for an award. Go to my site to see it.

Like a tatting rorschach blot. Everytime I look, I see a doily instead of a snowflake though.
ReplyDeleteOK, so tat a doily:-) I've had people ask me how I come up with ideas for tatting because they can't even figure out where to start. This is one idea that suggests an outline with many possible variations. When I see what people have come up with, I'll tell you where to get more outlines.
ReplyDeleteMy snowflake turned out to be a flower and includes split rings and rings floating on split rings. No extra picots on this one, but I might play around with picots later. You'll find a photo in my blog. Thank you for the challenge!
ReplyDeleteI also tried the challenge and have just tatted up the snowflake, though it look like a coaster - wih butterflies surrounding a flower. Took a long time with the butterflies and the tension is not very even. Still need to block it, and should be up on my blog on Sunday.
